Pokemon News: The Biggest Differences Between Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu

Pokemon fans have been enjoying the adventures in the Kanto region since the original games came out in 1996. Since then, there have been several remakes and spin-offs that have revisited the classic story and gameplay of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. The latest ones are Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, which are essentially remakes of Pokemon Yellow with some major changes and updates.

In this article, we will explore some of the biggest differences between Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu, and how they affect the experience of playing these games. Whether you are a veteran trainer or a newcomer to the franchise, you will find something interesting and exciting in these new versions of the first-generation Pokemon games.

The Capture Mechanic

One of the most noticeable changes between Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu is the way you capture wild Pokemon. In the original game, you had to encounter them randomly in tall grass, caves, or water, and then battle them to weaken them before throwing a Poke Ball. In the new game, you can see the wild Pokemon roaming around on-screen, and you can choose which ones to approach. Once you encounter them, you don’t have to battle them at all. Instead, you use a motion-controlled throwing mechanic that is similar to the one in the mobile game Pokemon Go. You simply aim your Joy-Con or Poke Ball Plus accessory at the screen and flick it to throw a Poke Ball at the Pokemon as a circle indicator shrinks around it.

This change has some advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, it makes capturing Pokemon easier and faster, as you don’t have to waste time or resources on battling them. It also adds a layer of realism and immersion to the game, as you can see the Pokemon in their natural habitats and interact with them directly. On the other hand, it removes some of the challenge and strategy of capturing Pokemon, as you don’t have to consider their type, level, or status effects. It also makes battling wild Pokemon less frequent and less rewarding, as you only get experience points from catching them or from trainer battles.

The Starter Pokemon

Another major difference between Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu is the choice of your starter Pokemon. In both games, you get a special Pikachu that follows you around outside its Poke Ball throughout your journey. However, in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu, you can also choose to have an Eevee instead of a Pikachu by buying the Let’s Go Eevee version of the game. Either way, your partner Pokemon will be more powerful than a regular Pikachu or Eevee, as they can learn exclusive moves that no other Pokemon can.

Your partner Pokemon will also have a closer bond with you than any other Pokemon in your team. You can play with them by petting them, feeding them berries, or changing their hairstyle by using your finger or the Joy-Con on their head. You can also dress them up with various outfits and accessories that match your own clothes. By doing these things, you can increase their happiness and friendship level, which will make them perform better in battles.
